Vintage Danish Modern Art Pottery Wall Candle Sconces by Knabstrup. This lovely pair is in very good condition. The pieces retain their original Knabstrup stickers to the backs as can be seen. Each is designed to hang on a wall and take a candle. There is a glossy glazed red and black design to the central unglazed section. The outer edges and the sconce design are finished in a smooth as silk satin glaze. The backs are slightly curved or concave. When lit the candles flicker and the light is reflected in the glossy glaze. I have included many photos as there are rubs and small grazes to the back where the piece sits against a wall. These look to have occurred from rubbing against something. Some of these have been coloured to camouflage them. As the pieces sit flat against a wall these are not seen from the front. There are a few places to the top and side edges where the glaze has been missed. If you require more photos please ask. There are two tiny chips to the glaze of one candle sconce as shown to the drip pan where the dark terracotta colour of the ceramic shows through and another to the inside edge of where the candle sits. The ceramic itself is not chipped it is the glaze to the surface. We do not generally sell chipped items but in this case we feel they can be forgiven as the pair is so striking. The sconces have two holes to thread wire or hanging thread through for a hanger. The pieces are 250mm tall and measure around 130mm across.
