Up for sale is this antique pair of American carved wood sconces. They are at least 100 years old as stated from an appraiser at the Antiques Roadshow. She said that they were wonderfully carved and even with a repair that has been done and a missing tassel were valued at the least 2,000 for the pair. They measure 25″ tall x 11″ wide x 7 1/2 deep and have gilt on the eagle and other areas. The only metal part is the bracket that holds the 2 wood holders. They are wonderful sconces and come from a wealthy Connecticut estate. This is flaking off and can easily be removed with wire wool or paint remover. Impressive for inside our outside front door. Will hold large church candles. Before his passing in November, Mr. Williams was the oldest living Academy Award winner. He was the Oscar winner in 1952 for the movie High Noon, featuring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. We are offering this item and many others from his fabulous estate. Pair of beautiful wood carved goddess statues dating from late 19th century. Each is slightly different than the other and finely detailed. Each has a circular platform upon their head where a candle or whatever you wish could be place. Also, each is fitted with a loop at back allowing them to be hung. Both are in excellent condition for age, but one has a hairline crack in wood from head to toe. Still she is in solid condition, the crack does not pierce through completely. Each measures 23″ tall x 6″ and weighs close to 7 pounds.
