Up for sale is a very ornate late 19th century gilded bronze wall mirror/candle holder sconce made by JW. It’s elaborately cast out of a thick bronze and has acquired a lovely patina from age. The reticulated frame is very ornate and has an elaborate figural dolphin pediment t the top. The frame is also embellished with a matching dual candle candle holder at the bottom. It has a long rectangular beveled glass mirror set from behind and stamped JW on the back. It is in nice antique condition and measures 22 inches long by 8 inches wide and sits 3 1/2 inches from the wall. The mirror is has ware spots as seen in photos. These are a very classically-designed pair of brass sconce candle holders from Maitland Smith. Each piece is 17 long when fully assembled and weighs 3.5 pounds each. Unfortunately, I do not have the original glass which would have been 9.25 tall. With the original hurricane lamp, the overall height would be over 24, making it a very elegant pair. The fitter is 1.5, which is pretty common. I have not polished the brass. I do not have the brass screws for mounting. Please review the pictures closely as they are part of the description. Very good condition, Large 17 1/4 pair of vintage brass wall sconce candle holders. Twisted rope bows with tassels. Each holds two candles. Each holder has two arms that are draped with twisted brass wire and decorative tassels on the front. They are in very good condition, free of bends and scratches. Each is marked PEERAGE ENGLAND on the back. The company manufactured reproduction and original copperware and brassware from the 1940′s to the 1990′s. Production included a variety of home decorative accents including this lovely pair of wall sconces. The candle sconces each measure approx. 17 1/4″ high x 9 1/2″ wide. The age is unknown.
