FANTASTIC SIGNED L PINET VICTORIAN BRASS WALL SCONCE CANDLE HOLDERS CIRCA 1880. Each wall sconce candle holder measures approximately 5 ¾ high (from bottom of wall-mounted base to the top of the swing arms) by 15 wide (when the swing arms are fully extended) by 8 7/8 deep (from the wax drip tray to the back of the base when the arms are completely closed and pushed together). Signed L Pinet on each candle holder arm where the swing mechanism inserts into the base and also signed on the back side of the mount that attaches to the wall. These are wonderful examples of French craftsmanship. The L Pinet – Leon Pinet – Company of Paris, France, started in the music industry in the 1840s, specializing in the harmonium business. Soon branched out into piano tools and supplies, and is still in business today, manufacturing hardware. They still make continuous piano hinges for general furniture and cabinetry applications. A rare pair of antique French piano candle holders. They are ornate bronze (or brass) double holders. They are c1890 and are signed’L Pinet’ (see below). They are in excellent undamaged condition. They’ve been prepared for conversion to electricity. Holes have been drilled in the candle holder / plate. But they have no wiring or electrical fittings. The back plates are 4.5″ x 2.2″ (11.5 cm x 5.5 cm). The candle holders stand 6 high (15 cm). The arms pivot out from the center to the sides. They are 16 wide when arms extended (40.5 cm). They stand 4 off the wall with arms extended (10cm). When facing forward, they’re 8.5 off the wall (21.5cm). They have a gorgeous, warm-gold aged patina.
