AUTHENTIC DESIGNS INC Argand Sconce Two Arm in Special Pewter with Ivory Candle Sleeves Two Glass Globles. Condition: Preowned in excellent condition. 1 back plate and mounting bolt. This lantern is based on an original design by the Swiss physicist and chemist Aimé Argand. Patented in 1780, it was the first fixture to employ a hollow cylindrical wick through and around which air flows, increasing the intensity of the light produced. The invention counted among its fans Thomas Jefferson, who noted that the brightness was 6 to 10 times that of conventional wicks. Hand made in Vermont. Metal parts are hand-plated with a pewter formula. They will oxidize darken and acquire the patina of mottled, old pewter. DO NOT USE METAL POLISH AS IT WILL REMOVE THE PLATING.

Offered for your consideration is a pair of stunning 2 arm wall sconce candle holders with delicate glass shades. I have seen these sconces advertised as bronze, but I’m not sure they are. 1/4″ height x 10″ wide x 4 depth. Very nice used condition.
Description- 7/20/12/12/ book # 1206. Modern Retro PAIR of Venetian type / style wall sconces. Price is for the PAIR. Mirror glass frame is etched beveled around edges. Glass is thick and heavy. Metal mounts are silvered metal as are the candle cups and arms. Solid backing polymer- wood like material. Probably 1980-90′s vintage but in the style of 18th to mid-19th c. Mirror silvering is nice. Cup arms shiny and clear. Serrated hanger on the back. Each is 15.75″ tall x 6″ wide and 3.75 deep. Unboxed they are 3 Lbs.
