It has the maker’s name on the back. I believe that this piece is English. This piece came from an estate in central PA. It measures 10″ high and 5 1/2″ wide and the wall pocket is 2 1/2 deep. Medusa: Greek Mythology Gorgon (Decorative Cold Cast Bronze Resin Sculpture / Mask wall mounted 61.5×50 cm / 24.21×19.68 in). The Gorgon / Gorgo was Medusa, the only mortal of the three sisters Gorgones (Mermaids). The daughter of Forcus and Ketos (Phorcys and Ceto), who were brothers to each other, had the same look as her sisters: snakes were stitched in her head, big teeth similar to wild boar, she had copper hands and golden wings, with which she was flying , scintillating eyes and perforant gaze. With her gaze dazzled anyone who dared to look at her, even the gods avoided it except Posidon, who joined her and left her pregnant. The birth of her children was at the time of her death, caused by Perseus, the son of Zeus and Danae. The myth of Medusa evolved to the Hellenistic years, and of course any additions, abstractions, conversions matched the imperatives and ideology of time and place.
