This is a very rare and attractive Gothic late 15th to early 16th century brass pricket wall sconce, Flemish or Dutch, dating from around 1500. The drip pan is screwed on the pricket which has coarse, hand cut screw thread. An iron hook in the wall, or in a wooden beam, supported a sconce like this with a vertical iron rod passing through the two holes in the arm. For reference, see: The Brass Book by Schiffer, p.
