Here we have a much sought after Egyptian revival Cobra wall Candle sconce. Solid brass with black and red inlaid detail. The head unscrews, after so many years the screw is not tight fully secure and will remain upright. Rear hidden mounts not the later version with exposed mounts to the sides. A rare and dramatic addition to the home, suiting many styles from boho & eclectic to Egyptian and French Empire. Found at an antiques fair in the UK 26 years ago… Another piece my personal collections I’m now thinning out. Vintage used condition with signs of previous candle burnings. The dulled brass patina of time but could be easily be polished to a high shine should you prefer to do so. All our items are Antique Vintage having the passage of time. Beautiful detail in fine shape with only expected bits of wear such as chips to paint…. THIEME GERMANY DOUBLE ARM PORCELAIN WALL SCONCE WINGED CHERUB Dresden. MARK ON BACK T Over Cross Swords THIEME. This is an antique Thieme porcelain wall sconce dating from the late 1800′s. Mark on back is the T over crossed swords. HISTORY: Carl-Johann Gottlob Thieme started in 1864 in Dresden a porcelain and antique shop. He was also running a porcelain painting business. In September 1872 he established a porcelain factory named Sächsische Porzellan-Fabrik Carl Thieme zu Potschappel. Soft aqua blue glaze , multi-colored flowers (some have flea bites on the petals) and leaves adorn the arms. Embellished with gold, has leaf bobeches (one of the bobeche needs repair), and a Colonial scene of a woman playing the mandolin and a man playing the flute. It has a winged cherub at the base draped in a yellow cloth and holding flowers. Not perfect, needs repair, but definitely worth restoring. Thank you for looking! Set of two (2) antique wall sconce candle holders marked “ST STYRJEK GDANSK” originally made in Poland. I believe they are brass with a gold gilding finish.
