Each wall sconce candle holder measures approximately 5 ¾ high (from bottom of wall-mounted base to the top of the swing arms) by 15 wide (when the swing arms are fully extended) by 8 7/8 deep (from the wax drip tray to the back of the base when the arms are completely closed and pushed together). Signed L Pinet on each candle holder arm where the swing mechanism inserts into the base and also signed on the back side of the mount that attaches to the wall. These are wonderful examples of French craftsmanship. The L Pinet – Leon Pinet – Company of Paris, France, started in the music industry in the 1840s, specializing in the harmonium business. Soon branched out into piano tools and supplies, and is still in business today, manufacturing hardware. They still make continuous piano hinges for general furniture and cabinetry applications.
